All of us know the health benefits of honey but how many of us are aware of its beauty benefits? Honey is an elixir for the skin and hair. It has wonderful anti-bacterial properties and is enriched with nutrients, antioxidants and oodles of goodness. It works perfectly for acne, skin tan, sun burn, dull and dry hair, softening of cuticles, lightening of the lips and much more.

Here are some beautiful DIY home made honey recipes for a better and healthier body:

1.Application of raw honey:

Take a spoonful of raw honey and apply it evenly on your face. You can also coat your lips with this. Leave it on for 15-20 minutes. Massage gently and wash it off.

Benefits- Reduces acne, sun burn, dullness and leaves your skin feeling soft. When applied on the lips, it removes pigmentation and makes the lips pinker and supple.

2. Honey and plain yogurt:

Take a 1:1 ration of yogurt and honey and mix it thoroughly. Make sure the paste is consistent and not runny. Apply it evenly on your face and leave it on for 15-20 minutes. Massage gently and wash it off. If your skin feels a little oily because of the curd, gently wipe your face with a wet cotton pad or soft towel.

Benefits- Moisturises the skin, removes tan, dulls acnes scars and marks, gives a glow to the face.

3. Honey, sugar and lemon juice.

Mix together the juice of half a lemon, one spoon of sugar and one spoon of honey. Dip a cotton ball in the mixture and gently scrub your face with it. Make sure that you dont scrub too hard, especially on pimples or acne. After scrubbing, leave it on for 15-20 minutes and wash it off.

Benefits- Removes tan, exfoliates the skin, unblocks pores and brightens the skin tone.

1) Honey, yogurt, two eggs:

Mix all the three into a fine paste and apply it evenly on your scalp and hair. Wash it off after 30 minutes.

Benefits- Conditions the hair, making it softer and easy-to-manage. Also gives shine to your tresses.

2) Honey and Olive/Coconut oil:

Mix equal amount of honey and oil (it can be either olive or coconut) and massage it thoroughly on your scalp and hair. Leave it on for 30-45 minutes and wash it off.

Benefits- Conditions the hair, makes it stronger and healthier and reduces hair-fall.
