Let’s talk about Lipstick
From bright crimson to eye-popping crimson, there are few shades of lipstick that many of us don’t want to try. In this post I will talk about the lipsticks I have been using over the past months and how I realized that just a slick of lipstick can change your mood for the day.
From my favourite shade from my collection to the lipstick that stood the test of time, let’s get into high voltage discussion on Lipsticks. Ladies, every lipstick colour has its own story and statement to make and that’s what affects your mood too. For example:
- Bright reds – these colours project confidence and passion and a desire to be admired. For those who lack boldness, wearing red lipstick can help transform you from a quiet wallflower into a more powerful version of yourself because it will affect your thoughts about yourself.
- Mauves – light purple shades have a quiet power in their simplicity. You might want to wear these shades if you are trying to subtly convince someone to do something
- Hot Pinks – these shades throw caution out if the window and portray a personality that wants new adventures, new people and new experiences.
- Neutrals – natural browns and nude pinks or reds are all about being natural. They project calm, light heartedness and a personality that’s dependable. The shade can help you to project a softer, friendlier and reliable side of your personality.
By personal experience, I can say that when I wear a bright red colour I feel sensual and when I wear a neutral colour I am more relaxed. We all wear a different colour every day to match with our outfits but that one colour that is our go-to always is the colour that talks about our personality.
Now, to review the lipsticks I have been wearing here is what I think. I have calculated rating basis my experience of their – Moisture, Pigment, Stay, Finish and Ingredients
Ruby’s Organics Lipstick – Shade Brick Red
I love that this lipstick created with only natural and organic ingredients that are good for you! I have always been a sucker for organic items so when I came across this lipstick, I had to try it. This baby has all the properties of a lip balm but it stays like a lipstick. It smells amazing and even the texture and stay duration is good. 2-3 stokes of this lipstick will give you a subtle, natural pigmentation and will last for about 3-4 hours.

Sugar Smudge Me Not Lipstick – Shade Tangerine Queen
Oh, the pigmentation in this one! Its bright and it stays on forever. This is rather a lip stain than a lipstick. Lip stains have caught on to the trends in the past year; and they work by imparting pigmentation into the skin layer so it stays on for longer. This applies like a gloss and quickly dries (within 1 second of application) and I have struggled to actually smear it for a full coverage before it dries, and if mistakenly I get it outside my lips it will take me a make-up remover to remove it since the pigment is so strong. But once I am happy with the application, it will stay on and will not smudge – the question is, are you ready to commit to a lipstick that is built to last with a full-blooded burst of colour.

Nykaa So Matte Lipstick – Shade Pink Brat 05 M
Now, all of us know Nykaa and love the brand, especially since they spoil the bloggers so much 😉 Nykaa has successfully launched a line of lipstick’s kajals and body butters, and maybe more stuff that I don’t know about. I was excited to place an order of this lip shade and even more excited to see its boxing. I like the shade, its bright pink and certainly gives me a pout-worthy lips. This lipstick is slightly creamy and satiny instead of matt against its claims but I like creamy lipsticks ad they don’t crack easily. It is pigment rich, one stroke is enough and can last for about 3-5 hours.

Faces Ultimate Pro Matte Lip Crayon – Shade “Girl Next Door 16”
Until I wore it, I didn’t know I would fall in love with the texture and the natural pink shade. The lipstick is smooth, buttery and has no shimmer, gives a perfect satiny-smooth finish. One stroke is enough to get good pigmentation that’s lasts 3-4 hours. I generally dab some balm before I put this lipstick as I want to avoid it from becoming cakey.

Two more lipsticks to go, but I will not spend much time in them as the above mentioned shades are the ones I use most often.
Innisfree Eco Fruit Tint
Shade (can’t read Korean, so I don’t know)- Organic and a very natural gloss to the lips that stays for 1-2 hours. Priced at ~700 INR, my rating – 3/5
L’Oreal Natural Brunette – Shade 265 Rose
A very natural nude pink with slight shimmer. This is my go-to when I don’t want to experiment. Slides smoothly and had a good moisture kick. You don’t need a mirror to apply this. Priced at ~900 INR, my rating – 3.5/5
